When we say that generations can learn from each other, we are saying that people pass down knowledge to people who are younger than them, which, when you think about it, it has to be true, and these are some ways people did so.
In 1881 a Jewish man named Ben Yuhuda thought that the ancient language of Hebrew should be brought back, so he convinced teachers and rabbis to start teaching their classes solely in Hebrew, forcing kids to learn the language, but that's not it, he also thought the languages needed new words, so he rewrote the language, and the total amount of words grew from 8,000 to 50,000 the kids then taught the kids they eventually had the languages, the process recycled over and over, and today, it is one of the official languages of Israel and has over 4 million total speakers.
From 1896 to 1986 public Hawaiian schools, but then educators decided to open language nests which are preschools where kids speak only Hawaiian, and learned native Hawaiian traditions. The traditional Hawaiian preschools actually led the way to language nest Elementary schools, and nowadays the university of Hawaii offers a PHD in the Hawaiian language
